Made on commission this castle is defifinately the biggest model I have ever built, and one of the most complicated.

Yes yes I know, but I am still learning about wordpress etc!

Here are a couple of pics of a ruined tower I built, it is only undercoated grey as the person it was built for wished to do the finishing off himself.

Same Temple, so far sans pillars but they are in progress. The smudgy metal bits are 6mm romans from Rapier Miniatures, excellent figures, but surpassing my photographic skills at this time.

Also here is the mock ups of a Legionary camp, again in 6mm.

Images from its start to its finish, ideas taken from Guy De La Bedoyere’s book ‘The Buildings of Roman Britain’ a treasure trove of ideas for terrain builders.

 It’s sized for use with 28mm figures.

Temple base, there are large stones scribed into the base material which is a plastic foam sheeting that signmakers use. 

Here with the pillars added, they are plain as fluting at this scale is beyond me at this time!

Inner sanctum added, made out of mounting board with card setails added.

Mocked up roof supports to check the cant of the roof and the inner tower, again made from mounting board. It was at this point that an executive decision to make the building whole and not have a detachable roof was made. 

Here is the roof tiled by the painstaking method of cocktail sticks and then individual paper tiles stuck on, its even worse than it sounds but it is good looking when it is finished and painted. 

And here it is completed, the figures are Citadel Miniatures skeletons in 28mm as I had no painted Romans to hand.

Next is to paint it.
